Challenges in Using Big Data Analytics for Transportation Project Delivery

TRB released a series of recordings in February 2019 that analyzes the current digital project delivery methods with the intention of identifying unresolved challenges. The presenters discuss the opportunities that arise from the challenges in using big data analytics for improved project delivery (i.e., design, construction, operation, and maintenance), as well as for developing intelligence that can improve decision support for complex projects to directly add project value. The panelists included several case studies that addressed these challenges, including 5D Integrated Project Controls System, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and deliverables for bridge design.

3D Printing Gets Spotlight During Philly Tech Week

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — As part of Philly Tech Week, a Center City company wants to help you see yourself in another dimension.  The 3D printing is churning out full-color figurines of anyone who walks in the door. “The idea is that we can take this technology and really make it accessible to anybody that can come in and stand still for a few minutes and get scanned up,” says Alex Rivera, a 3D artist and toy designer at NRI, 10th and Chestnut Streets.
